Godwin Chimaobi Chukwunta is the Chief Operations Officer of Access Bank Cameroon, where he provides strategic leadership for the Bank’s operations, customer experience, operational resilience, technology-enabled transformation, and enterprise-wide service delivery. He is responsible for driving operational excellence, strengthening governance and controls, enhancing customer value, and enabling the Bank’s growth strategy through innovation and execution excellence.
With more than two decades of executive banking experience across Africa, Godwin has established a distinguished track record of leading large-scale business transformation, post-merger integration, operational optimization, digital innovation, and customer-centric change. Before his appointment to Cameroon, he served as Country Operating Officer at Access Bank Botswana, where he successfully led the operational integration following the acquisition of BancABC, championed enterprise-wide business process improvement and automation, and delivered significant operational efficiencies. Earlier in his career, he led operations, service delivery, and customer experience across a 32-branch network in Nigeria, consistently delivering industry-leading performance in audit, operational risk, customer satisfaction, and business growth.
Recognized for his strategic vision and transformational leadership, Godwin is passionate about building high-performing teams, leveraging technology to simplify banking, strengthening operational resilience, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement. His leadership philosophy is centered on innovation, disciplined execution, collaboration, and creating sustainable value for customers, shareholders, employees, and the communities the Bank serves.
Godwin holds a Master of Science in Finance and Management from Cranfield School of Management, United Kingdom, an MBA from Ambrose Alli University, and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. He has completed executive leadership programs at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and INSEAD. He is also a Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (ACIB).
